A woman was shot dead by a gunman at the service station to which she was employed in Morant Bay, St Thomas last evening.
She is 32-year-old Taneisha McCool, as cashier at the Morant Bay Petcom Service Station.
The police say the incident took place about 9:00 o’clock last night.
McCool was approached by the gunman, who was on foot, as she sat on a chair on the premises of the service station.
He fired a single shot at McCool.
She was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Jamaica Labour Party’s caretaker for Eastern St Thomas, Delano Seiveright, is urging persons who witnessed the incident or may have information that can assist the investigations to tell the police.
He says the incident took place in full view of staff of the service station and patrons.
Seiveright is urging the Ministry of National Security to pay more attention to St Thomas, which has experienced a very significant increase in murders since the start of the year.
